Philadelphia: Thomas, Cowperthwait & Co., 1841. First edition. Two 12mo volumes. viii, 13-314; 403 pages. Bound uniformly in three-quarter black leather over marbled boards. Titles, ownership stamp, and rules appear in 4 compartments between six raised spine bands.

    The first volume includes chapters on Mexican history, along with chapters on Spanish-American relations, the Burr Conspiracy, the Fredonian War, and Austin's colony. The second volume deals with the history of Texas colonization, the Revolution and the aftermath.

    Condition: Contents with areas of light foxing scattered throughout. Former library's large book plate on the rear pastedown of each volume. Additional library stamps on both title pages, with occasional marginalia and markings lightly scattered throughout. Front paste downs are scraped, likely from removal of bookplates. About fine.
