Original quarter calf over marbled paper covered boards. All boards detached, chipped, and worn. Front board of second volume with surface paper loss from biopredation. Blanks and half-titles coming loose. Titles and half-titles trimmed along upper margins, excising previous owner's signatures, not affecting text. Small library stamp to all titles and a few pages. First map with faint library ink stamp at its upper corner and second map with same stamp on verso. Pages cockled, few clean tears, some corner bends and creases, holograph pencil annotations (volume 3 with a few red pencil notes), some foxing and light browning; else a good copy in damaged bindings.
