First edition of this rare book.Printed in double columns. Octavo. -185, -13 publisher's ads, [2, publisher's ads] pages. With several engraved plates within pagination, including "Death of Colonel Davy Crockett - Page 180" on page 181. Crockett's manuscript goes up to page 179, and the rest of the work, including an account of some of the deaths at the Alamo, is finished by another. Later binding of plain half black cloth over green boards. With the original presentation bookplate from the Richmond Library Association affixed to front pastedown. Some wear to binding, joints starting (yet still solid), corners bumped, endleaves scuffed, creased and somewhat dampstained, text somewhat soiled throughout with several pages with chips missing from extremities (not apparently affecting text) or creases, original publisher's stab-holes visible. One plate with a faint inkstamp. Overall, a good copy of this rare item (no copy has been at auction in nearly fifty years).
