DescriptionBurr-Hamilton Duel: A Rare Imprint Lamenting the "Consequence of the Late Duel." A 28 page (!) sermon delivered on August 5, 1804 by Samuel Spring to the North Congregational Society of Newburyport. "From the press of B.W. Allen - 1804 for sale at the bookstore of Thomas & Whipple, Market Square." The sermon was delivered "with a view to aid your seasonable improvement of the late alarming event." It laments "this evil which increases the darkness, in which the Union is deeply involved...." The duel greatly exacerbated already-existing tensions between the Federalist and Republican elements in the populace.
The pamphlet is dis-bound, and in excellent condition save for a couple of trivial stain marks on the title page as shown. 5" x 8.25".
