Arthur Morecamp [pseudonym of Thomas Pilgrim]. Live Boys in the Black Hills or the Young Texan Gold Hunters. Boston: Lee and Shepard, Publishers, [1880]. Publisher's tan pictorial cloth with titles stamped in gilt on the spine.
The second book by Morecamp (Pilgrim) featuring the rip roaring adventures of young Texans Charley and Nasho. "This scarce book is fiction, but important because it is said to be the first to use the cattle trail as a theme" (Adams). Howes calls it the "earliest authentic...cowboy narrative."
Condition: Very good. Boards lightly soiled with wear at the spine ends and corners. Lower corner on rear board has been bent. Contemporary gift inscription on the front free endpaper. Contents sound with occasional light scattered foxing. Slight slant to text block.

This was my first time dealing with an auction house, and I am 100% completely impressed with Heritage. There is not an aspect of this process that I have a critique for.
