Adlai E. Stevenson. Friends and Enemies. What I Learned in Russia. New York: Harper & Brothers Publishers, [1959]. First edition. Presentation copy, inscribed by Stevenson on the front free endpaper: "For Arthur Schlesinger-/with affection from/a respectful minor/author-/Adlai E Stevenson/Libertyville, 1959". Octavo. [xxvi], 102 pages. With sixteen pages of photos inserted at center. Publisher's full black cloth, front cover stamped in orange, spine lettered in orange and white, dust jacket. More Information:

Adlai E. Stevenson (1900-1965) was the Governor of Illinois, the two-time Democratic nominee for president, as well as the U. S. Ambassador to the United Nations under President John F. Kennedy. He met Arthur Schlesinger (1917-2007) when Schlesinger became the primary speech writer for his (Stevenson's) presidential campaigns. When Kennedy was elected, both men went to work for him, Stevenson as mentioned above, and Schlesinger as a Special Assistant to the President, working as a speech writer and unofficial "troubleshooter." Stevenson and Schlesinger were close friends, and both were witnesses to one of the most eventful periods in American history.

The pre and post sales experience was wonderful and flawless. Heritage has the best in-house operation I have ever seen and their people are not only professional but fun to work with, especially Steve C.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
