This document represents the first Federal government printing of the Texas state constitution. The constitution was ratified by the voters of the Republic of Texas on October 13, 1845 and was transmitted by Anson Jones, President of the Republic of Texas to President Polk on November 10, and then by Polk to the Senate and House of Representatives on December 9, 1845.
