One of Approximately Fifty Copies Printed in Tribute to Ralph Waldo Emerson

[Ralph Waldo Emerson, subject]. [Amos Bronson Alcott]. Emerson. Cambridge: Privately Printed, 1865.

First edition, one of only fifty estimated copies printed. Small Octavo. (Approximately 6.75 x 5 inches). 62, [2, blank] pages. With a photograph of a bust of Emerson used as a frontispiece, inserted at front.

Blanck's binding "B": full brown morocco over beveled boards, covers ruled in blind with a lamp of knowledge stamped in blind in center, spine ruled in blind, five raised bands, gilt board edges and dentelles, marbled endpapers, all edges gilt (no priority to binding). Some rubbing to spine and corners, front free endpaper starting to tear at upper portion of its hinge. Still, a handsome, near fine copy of this rarity, prepared in tribute for Emerson's birthday.

    BAL 109.
