A very good collection of autograph letters and documents signed by the presidents from Washington through Hoover, inserted into this copy. Letters and documents neatly tipped to guards, some folded; also loosely inserted is a typed letter signed by Dwight D. Eisenhower, 24 June 1953, thanking L. F. Bachrach for photographs. Full red morocco professionally rebacked in strict sympathy with original spine, utilizing highly similar leather. Three double-fillet gilt borders, gilt title and gilt Great Seal of the United States centerpiece on front board, spine ruled and lettered in gilt in compartments, gilt board edges, gilt red morocco doublures, marbled free endpapers, top edge gilt. Scattered light foxing and repairs. Fourth front free endpaper crudely detached. Overall a very good copy in a red pebble-grained cloth slipcase.

Piatt. - James Monroe, General Land Office Patent signed, 31 December 1819, for land near Jeffersonville for Noah Bondruvant. - Certification of Commercial Appointment signed ("J. Q. Adams"), 29 December 1820. - Andrew Jackson, Military Appointment signed, 1 July 1834, conferring on Captain Thomas Staniford the rank of Major by Brevet. - Martin Van Buren, autograph letter signed ("M. Van Buren"), Oswego, 29 July 1856, to James Marwin, booking rooms at a Saratoga hotel. - William Henry Harrison, Subsistence Account Certificate signed ("Willm Henry Harrison"), 30 June 1813. - John Tyler, Naval Appointment signed, appointing John H. Tillotson a midshipman. - James K. Polk, Warrant signed, to Affix the Seal of the United States to "the pardon of Virgil M.
