[Philip Van Cortlandt]. Address to the Republican Citizens, of the State of New-York. Albany: Southwick, 1813. 15 [1 blank] pp. Disbound. Light browning. Very good.

More Information: Printed in the Albany Register just before the "approaching" 1812 presidential election, this rare pamphlet attacks the "undue and artificial preponderance" of Virginia in the national councils. Alothough the "northern states have decided superiority in wealth, in commerce, in population and in physical strength... they have been the victims of intrigue and the prey of faction." Hence New Yorkers, "justly offended at the monopoly of power possessed by Virginia," ought to stand together to assure the election of DeWitt Clinton, their favorite son, at the November election. The authors criticise Madison's war policy. Another Albany printing by Southwick in the same year has 'Supplement to the Albany Register' at the title head. AI 28307 [1]. Sabin 53510. Not in Haynes. This was my first time dealing with an auction house, and I am 100% completely impressed with Heritage. There is not an aspect of this process that I have a critique for.
