    Boston Courier. Fifty-one issues in a near-consecutive run, beginning with Vol. I; No. I, Thursday June 13, 1805 through Vol. I; No 52 Thursday, June 5, 1806; and wanting only issue No. 39 from Thursday March 6, 1806. Bound in after the first two numbers is the prospectus dated June 4, 1805: "Proposals, for publishing in Boston a Country Newspaper, to be called The Boston Courier. Large folio (20 x 12.5 inches). Most issues are 4 pages, with a few being 2 pages. Contemporary leather back and corners over marbled paper. Worn and in good condition only, with a large oil stain to the lower right quarter of the boards, and extending throughout the bound issues so that all sheets have corresponding staining that is quite dark (but text is still legible). Many issues have contemporary signature of "G. V. Baron" on the top margin. There are several announcements or articles clipped from the fore-edge column; and some tears.

    Some of the topics included are: Jefferson on the meaning of the word "federalist"; Thomas Paine's 8th Letter; Jefferson's Notes on Virginia; Anniversaries of Declaration and American Independence; Report on the Lewis and Clark Expedition; Vindication of Jefferson; English and American affairs; Dialogue between Franklin and Washington; Full page message from President Jefferson.
