[Maria Aurelia Williams] Charles Albert Sloane, editor and compiler. I Remember: Being Memoirs of Mrs. John Herndon (Maria Aurelia Williams) James together with Contemporary Historical Events and Sketches of Her Own and Her Husband's Families. San Antonio: The Naylor Company, 1938. First edition. Octavo. 301 pages. Photographic portrait of Maria Williams as a young girl used as the frontispiece. Publisher's original green cloth lettered in gilt. Dust jacket.

The author was married to prominent San Antonio lawyer John Herndon James. Her account gives a glimpse of life in San Antonio in the late 1800s as well as some information of both her and her husband's antecedents.

Condition: Minor shelf wear to boards; contemporary ownership signature on the free front endpaper; jacket lightly toned with some chipping and small areas of loss to the edges. A very good copy indeed.
