Philadelphia: Printed and Published by C. P. Wayne, 1804. First edition. Six octavo volumes. Portrait frontispiece in Volume I of George Washington. Contemporary mottled calf, spines decorated in gilt, red title labels on spines. Boards detached but present on Volumes I-IV with rubbing on board edges, all spines heavily rubbed and chipped with loss. All text blocks toned with edges soiled, leaves lightly to heavily foxed, occasional thumbprints in margins. Volume I calf on spine limp and detaching, lacking front free endpaper; Volume II closed tear affecting text on page 3/4, marked out ink signature on front flyleaf, multiple terminal leaves dampstained on upper margins; Volume III dampstained on upper quarter of preliminary leaves; Volumes IV and V joints cracked and shaken, with Volume V having some dampstaining affecting upper edged of the last third of the text block; the Atlas is dampstained with the spine perished. A good set.
