[Franklin Pierce]. Joseph Cundall. The Playmate A Pleasant Companion for Spare Hours. Boston: William Crosby & H. P. Nichols, [n.d., circa 1847]. Early edition. Inscribed by Franklin Pierce, "Benjamin Pierce / from his affectionate / Father / Dec. 25, 1851" on the front free endpaper. Octavo. 411 pages. Illustrated. Publisher's original green cloth lavishing decorated in gilt. All edges gilt. Spine a bit darkened; front hinge starting; scattered moderate to heavy foxing, else very good and sold in a modern slipcase.
