Description[Confederate Imprints]. Constitution of the Confederate States of America. Adopted unanimously by the Congress of the Confederate States of America, March 11, 1861. Richmond: Wyatt M. Elliott, Printer. 1861. Early Virginia edition, following a proof copy of sixteen leaves printed on rectos only, and roughly concurrent with a seventeen-page issue with no textual differences, according to The Boston Athenaeum, and another Richmond edition by J. E. Goode. Octavo (9 x 5.625 inches; 229 x 144 mm.). 16 pages. Publisher's side-stitched threaded binding, in original light brownish-pink printed wrappers, glued to text block. Wrappers lightly soiled, with some minor marginal staining; light creasing to corners; spine splitting. Text block lightly worn but pages still supple; some marginal soiling, with slightly larger stains to terminal leaves. Softly creased from vertical fold. Very good. Uncommon on the market, with the last known auction record of a Virginia edition being in 1981 (Wyatt, seventeen-page issue). Roughly a dozen institutional holdings for the Wyatt edition, most being the seventeen-page issue, this issue held in The Boston Athenaeum, The Huntington and The New-York Historical Society, among others; a variety of wrapper states recorded, including yellow (Huntington) and green (Boston Athenaeum). Parrish & Willingham, 16; Crandell, 10 (both seventeen-page issue).

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
