The Rare 175 Plate Atlas to Accompany the Official Record of the Civil War Armies
[Civil War]. Atlas to Accompany the Official Records
of the Union and Confederate Armies. Washington: Government
Printing Office, 1891-1895. First editions. Approximately 18.5 x 15
inches. Thirty-six atlas portfolio volumes bound into two folio
volumes (one Index volume and thirty-five plate volumes).
Containing battlefield maps, illustrations and plans. Bound in
modern brown calf over black cloth boards, spines ruled in gilt
with burgundy gilt morocco lettering labels, front wrappers of each
volume bound into the rear of each volume. Some toning and light
soiling, a few plates with short tears, each plate with the ink
stamp of the Boston Athenaeum on the blank recto of the first half

set of the rare atlas volumes.
It is rare to find complete atlas volumes on the market, and they would make an excellent addition to any Civil War library. From the James and Deborah Boyd Collection.
