    Collection of Fourteen Bookplates
    by Three Prominent Designers

[Bookplates]. [George Ainslie Hewett, Jay Chambers, Dorothy Sturgis]. Collection of Fourteen Bookplates by Three Prominent Designers. [American, late 19th to mid-20th century]. Bookplates toned with a few scattered handling crimps. Attractively matted, glazed and framed in three separate frames to 19 x 17, 17.5 x 17.5, and 18 x 19 inches. Each frame is dedicated to one specific designer.
The Hewett collection includes one of the artist's own bookplates. All are Arts and Crafts designs, incorporate color and Gothic lettering and are signed in the plates. The Chambers collection also includes his personal bookplates and label. The bookplate is signed "Jay Chambers" in graphite center lower margin. The remaining four bookplates are all signed in the plate. The Sturgis collection includes four very intricate examples of her work, much influenced by Frederick Garrison Hall, whom she studied under.

This was my first time dealing with an auction house, and I am 100% completely impressed with Heritage. There is not an aspect of this process that I have a critique for.
