Overall, book is in very good condition. Sabin 23981, Howes H-114.

This edition of the most "famous and influential American political work" (Howes) is the first edition to identify Hamilton, Madison, and Jay as the original authors (attribution for individual essays would follow in the Gideon edition of 1818), and the last to be issued during Hamilton's life.

A beautiful copy of the second U.S. edition of this monumental work.

We had a wonderful time in New York during the October 2013 Historical Manuscripts auction that featured my mother’s papers collected during her tenure as Martin Luther King, Jr.’s secretary. In fact, the entire experience from beginning to end has been a pleasure.
