Amelia Earhart. The Fun of It. New York: Brewer, Warren & Putnam, 1932. First edition, signed by the aviator on the recto of the portrait frontispiece. With the small (4 x 4 inches; 102 x 102 mm.) Silvertone record in the publisher's mounted sleeve on the rear pastedown (the gold seal has been carefully removed from the record, but it still present and intact). Octavo (8 x 5.25 inches; 203 x 130 mm.). [x], 218, [1, ads], [3, blank] pages; portrait frontispiece and numerous plates inserted throughout. Publisher's brown cloth, front board and spine lettered in white. Cloth spine sunned; some rubbing (and mild loss) to white letters on spine; some bumping to spine edges; upper front corner bumped; some rubbing and minor soiling to boards; text a bit toned; some offsetting from the small record and its sleeve on the rear free endpaper. Still, a near fine copy. From the James C. Seacrest Collection.

We had a wonderful time in New York during the October 2013 Historical Manuscripts auction that featured my mother’s papers collected during her tenure as Martin Luther King, Jr.’s secretary. In fact, the entire experience from beginning to end has been a pleasure.
