    Five large quarto volumes. xxxv, [39-592]; 623 plus index; 552; 500; 456 pages. Frontispieces in Volumes I, II, and V.

    Full brown diced calf, rebacked in nineteenth-century plain brown calf with gilt titles and rules and five raised bands. Boards with double gilt borders, edges and turn-ins. All edges marbled. Marbled endpapers. Some overall minor wear and scuffing to binding; heavier wear to bottom edges, particularly to Volume II. Removal of an unknown adhesive has left a small strip of surface loss to each volume's flyleaf. Previous owner's tasteful monogram stamp appears throughout. All volumes bright and tight. Very good or better condition.
