    One of 1,000 copies printed on Japanese Vellum. Sixteen octavo volumes. First two volumes with frontispieces hand-colored and heightened in gilt, all other frontispieces in two states, one hand-colored, other illustrations in two states. Portrait of Strickland in two states, one hand-colored in Volume I. All with descriptive tissue guards. Title pages printed in red and black.

    Publisher's lovely binding of full red levant morocco, covers ruled in gilt and paneled in gilt in four lines, gilt floral cornerpieces, spines ruled, tooled and lettered in gilt in compartments, five raised bands, top edge gilt, others uncut, gilt-ruled turn-ins with gilt floral cornerpieces, green morocco doublures with gilt central crest, green silk liners. Volume I both joints re-hinged, Volumes VI, XVI front joints re-hinged, three other joints cracking, some wear to spines, a few hinges starting, some rubbing to edges, a few liners worn. Still, a very good set.
