[Together with:] The Body in the Library. New York: Dodd, Mead & Company, 1942. First U. S. edition, advance copy, with publisher's stamp at title-page. Octavo. , 245, [5, blank] pages. Publisher's perfect binding with illustrated paper wrappers; fore-edge untrimmed, others trimmed. Spine skewed; backstrip lightly sunned and wrinkled, with some mild wear to either end; some soft creasing and flecks of color loss at joints; front wrapper starting to split away from backstrip at top, small chip at head of rear joint; wrappers under-trimmed toward spine, resulting in 2 mm. sections, frayed and thinning, creased over edges of text block; mild rubbing to rear wrapper; flap folds slightly worn. Typical dulling to text block; top edge darkened with speckling toward spine; traces of dark rubbing to bottom edge; spine split between pages 154 and 155, but still sound. About near fine, given the fragile nature of this issue.
