A. F. Bertrand de Moleville Annals of the French Revolution; or, A Chronological Account of Its Principal Events With a Variety of Anecdotes and Characters Hitherto Unpublished translated by R. C. Dallas, (London: S. Low, 1800), first edition in four volumes, volume one 438 pages, volume two 534 pages, volume three 448 pages, volume four 371 pages, plus 176 page appendix, all volumes 8vo (6" x 9.25"), bound in half leather with marble boards, all volumes in good condition with significant shelf wear to spines and corners. The endpapers of each volume are discolored at the corners as a result of the reaction between the leather of the binding and paper. This set belonged to John Robison (1739 - 1805), a Scottish physicist and inventor who became an enthusiastic conspiracy theorist in his later years. On the second front free endpaper Robison has penned "This Book belongs to Professor J. Robison, author of the "Proofs of a Conspiracy against the Religions & Governments of Europe etc" and the notes are of his writing". The notes Robison refers to are the copious margin notes found throughout each volume of this set.
