First edition, limited issue on hand-made paper, limited to 350 copies, of which this is number 233, and signed by the author and the illustrator. Large octavo (8.75 x 7 inches; 222 x 180 mm.). [xvi], 158, [2] pages; full-page and in-text illustrations by E. H. Shepard throughout, folding map of the 100 Aker Wood inserted at rear. Publisher's dark blue quarter-cloth over light blue paper-covered boards, printed paper label affixed to the front board; page edges untrimmed, text largely unopened; in original printed dust jacket. Board edges just barely discolored, fore-edges with a couple very minor bends and a tiny divot to the rear board; bottom corners gently bumped. Just a hint of offsetting to the endpapers; fore-edge of rear pastedown very slightly cockled. Dust jacket spine panel very faintly dulled; light wear to the crown; two small, narrow (the larger being approximately five-eighths inches wide, the other pretty negligible) interior punctures to the rear panel; very faint discoloration along flap folds; two very soft creases to the rear panel; light crimping at bottom corners; pencil notation to upper corner of front panel; trace faint soiling. An exceptional copy of an easily worn book, dust jacket color much brighter than often seen. Nearly fine.Auction Info
