1878 Diary of St. Clair County, Missouri Citizen Walter E. Lilley (1851-1898). This thick diary is in clear pencil, and covers a horseback trip made from Missouri to Pike's Peak in Colorado. The trip took from May 15 to October 4 and is documented in these pages. A well-written account however, and with the exception of a surprise encounter with a solitary Indian, there are no noteworthy occurrences. Wilbur Zink located Lilley's gravestone, a Polaroid of which is included. Generally very good condition, although the first page has come loose.
