    Description

1677 Printed Account of the Fire of London. A True and Faithful Account Of The Several Informations Exhibited To the Honourable Committee appointed by the Parliament To Inquire into the late Dreadful Burning of the City of London. (London: 1667), 35 pages, no wraps, 12mo (5.5" x 7.25"). The first lines of the booklet read, "Upon the second of September 1666. The Fire began in London at one Farryners House a Baker, in Pudding-Lane, between the hours of one and two in the morning, and continued burning until the sixth of September following; consuming, as by the Surveyors appears in print, three hundred seventy three acres within the Walls of the City of London…" This fire was one of the most devastating events to hit the city of London. This printed document contains eyewitness accounts of the fire, and its direct and immediate impact on the city. Something you can only get from primary sources. A wonderful opportunity.

The letter is in good condition; disbound, no wraps, tears along left vertical edge, slight staining on the title page.

We had a wonderful time in New York during the October 2013 Historical Manuscripts auction that featured my mother’s papers collected during her tenure as Martin Luther King, Jr.’s secretary. In fact, the entire experience from beginning to end has been a pleasure.
