First edition, Book of the Month club issue (issued simultaneously with the Random House first edition). Signed by fourteen pilots and crewmembers who participated in the April 18, 1942 bombing raid over Tokyo, including Doolittle himself on the recto of the frontispiece. Octavo. [x], 221, [1, blank] pages. With frontispiece and eight leaves of photographic illustrations inserted. Publisher's full beige cloth, front board and spine stamped in dark brown, dust jacket. Jacket spine sunned, jacket chipped, with several tears, some rubbing, tape repairs to verso, rubbing to binding. Small tape residue on free endpapers, previous owner's notation on half-title. Still, a good copy. From a private collection in North Carolina.
