[William F. Cody]. Buffalo Bill's Wild West and Congress of Rough Riders of the World. (Chicago: The Blakely Printing Company, [1893]). Octavo. 64 pages. Bound with two staples. Numerous in-text illustrations. A fabulous program for the 1893 season of Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show. Featured acts included "Miss Annie Oakley, celebrated Shot, who will illustrate her dexterity in the use of Fire-arms", "Col. W. F. Cody, ("Buffalo Bill"), in his Unique Feats of Sharpshooting", and "The Battle of the Little Big Horn, Showing with Historical Accuracy the scene of Custer's Last Charge". The program is illustrated with numerous engravings and halftone photographic images. The text includes a biography of Cody, an account of the Ghost Dance movement and the Wounded Knee incident, and a chronicle of the Wild West Show's European tour of 1887-1892. . The many half-tone illustrations include Sitting Bull and other prominent Sioux figures, Cody and army officers on horseback near the Pine Ridge Reservation in 1891, and a full page photograph of "Buffalo Bill and the first American Indians that have visited Venice" seated in full regalia in a gondola. The original chromolithograph wrappers are lacking, however with the exception of some toning to the edges of the pages and scattered chipping at the edges, the program remains in very good condition.
