Description

    Signed by Thomas A. Edison

[Thomas A. Edison]. Terry Ramsaye. A Million and One Nights. A History of the Motion Picture. New York: Simon and Schuster, 1926.

First edition, limited to 327 copies, this copy being number 107. Signed by the author and Thomas A. Edison. Quarto. lxx, 400; 401-868 pages. Index. Frontispiece portrait, illustrated throughout with black and white photographic reproductions.

Publisher's quarter tan pigskin over batik boards, black-stamped spine lettering and decoration, top edges gilt. Spines somewhat worn, with loss to volume one at headcap, both with some loss of spine lettering, edges worn, both volumes dampstained on pigskin, volume one has dampstain and previous owner's inscription on front blank. Text is still generally bright. Despite the flaws mentioned, this is still an attractive copy in very good condition.

A lavish production, chronicling the history of the silver screen, with wonderful vintage photographs -- as Edison states, "the first endeavor to set down the whole and true story of the motion picture...through his years of preparation...I am aware of [the author's] effort at exact fact. A high degree of detailed accuracy has been attained."

The pre and post sales experience was wonderful and flawless. Heritage has the best in-house operation I have ever seen and their people are not only professional but fun to work with, especially Steve C.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
