Marbled endpapers. Wear to corners, joints of binding; slight discoloration to backstrips. Edges of text block and pages slightly toned with age; marginal spot-staining and foxing scattered throughout; archival repair to one corner of folding map. Very good. Written during Burton's consulship at Fernando Po, a small island off the coast of Cameroon that is now part of Equatorial Guinea. Penzer, p. 71.
