One of 195 copies on handmade paper, out of a total edition of 205 copies (the other ten copies were printed on vellum), this being copy 188. Two large folio volumes (14 1/8 x 9 7/8 inches; 358 x 252 mm). 157, [2]; [170, [1], [1, colophon], pages. Twelve hand-colored engraved plates (including frontispieces), five full-page engraved maps in the text, engraved title vignettes, and eight engraved head- and tail-piece vignettes. "The foregoing text of Gulliver's Travels is that of the first large paper edition published in 1726. The illustrations and decorations have been designed by Rex Whistler" (Colophon). Printed in Baskerville type. Publisher's half green morocco over vellum boards by Wood of London (stamp-signed on pastedown). Spines lettered in gilt in compartments. Top edge gilt, others uncut. Backstrips uniformly faded to brown, and with light wear to the corners and along the joints. Light offsetting from the engravings. Else a fine copy, wanting the original numbered cardboard slipcase.
