[Ray Bradbury and Forest Ackerman]. Futuria Fantasia. [Los Angeles: Science Circle], Fall 1939-Winter 1940. Original fanzine issues. Volume 1, nos. 2 and 3 (of four published), both signed by Bradbury on the front wrapper at a later date. Together, two quarto volumes. Mimeographic sheets, both volumes comprised of nine leaves and original illustrated front cover included in pagination, no rear wrappers, for 20 pages. Publisher's side-stitched bindings. Cover artwork and interior illustrations by Hannes Bok. Fall 1939 issue's front wrapper is detached and chipped with some toning and wear to leaves; Winter 1940 issue has some chipping to front wrapper, but it is still attached, some toning and wear to sheets. Very good overall. Uncommon.

When Bradbury was eighteen, he and Forrest J. Ackerman started this magazine, after their first effort, Imagination! magazine ended, and printed roughly 100 copies of each issue, which sold for ten cents each. Hannes Bok provided most of the artwork, and contributors included Bradbury and Ackerman, Damon Knight, Henry Kutter, and Bruce Yerke. Bradbury and Ackerman used their own names as well as pseudonyms.
