    Presentation Copy from Queen Victoria

    [Queen Victoria]. The Principal Speeches and Addresses of his Royal Highness the Prince Consort. London: John Murray, 1862.

    Presentation copy with autograph inscription signed by Queen Victoria: "To Lord Waterpark in recollection of his great & good Master from the Prince's broken hearted Victoria R., Osborne Jan. 19, 1863." Also, tipped in is a four-page handwritten black-bordered note card from the Queen's secretary, Lady Augusta Bruce, forwarding the book to Henry Manners Cavendish, Third Baron Waterpark.

    Brown cloth over beveled boards. Armorial bookplate. In ink on the verso of the first free endpaper a previous owner has written a lengthy description of where and when he discovered this book in a secondhand bookshop, which he purchased for "sixpence." Slightly cocked binding. In very good condition.
