Each volume with frontispiece and several additional inserted plates, some with tissue guards. All in publisher's cloth, principally blue, green and plum, stamped in gilt, black and blind. All edges trimmed. One spine slightly skewed. Overall mild wear at edges, joints and spine ends of bindings; most corners bumped; spine ends pushed with top end of Bucholz split; Thirty Years recased and rebacked with original backstrip laid down; a few spots of soiling. Normal uneven age toning to edges of text blocks with some top edges darkened; some scattered foxing. Some endpapers toned, mostly at edges; several books with previous owner signatures at front endpapers or preliminary leaves; occasional foxing, spot and thumbsoiling and scattered pencil annotations; a few leaves and gatherings coming detached as spines age.
