First Major Book in the United States with Photolithographic Plates

[Photography]. [A. A. Turner]. Villas on the Hudson. A Collection of Photo-Lithographs of Thirty-One Country Residences. New York: D. Appleton, 1860. First edition, first printing. Oblong folio. Unpaginated. Modern blue buckram with gilt titles to spine. Consists of 31 tinted photo-lithographic plates and 20 lithographic floor plans. Toning and thumb-soiling to leaves and plates. Most corners with some mild abrading and several with creases. Minor abrading along the fore-edge with a one-half-inch tear to one plate. Area of vertical offsetting to fore-edge of title page. Large, though faint, areas of staining throughout textblock. List of Villas page with tiny pencil check-marks and numerals. Endpapers renewed. Overall, a very good example of this important photolithographic production.

This was my first time dealing with an auction house, and I am 100% completely impressed with Heritage. There is not an aspect of this process that I have a critique for.
