    Norman Rockwell's Personal Copy of The Four Freedoms

    [Norman Rockwell, illustrator]. The Four Freedoms, consisting of five issues of The Saturday Evening Post bound as a single volume, including: February 13, 1943 through March 13, 1943. [Pasadena: M. S. Slocum, 1943].

    First edition, limited to four copies. Rockwell's personal copy with a lengthy inscription on front free endpaper to publisher, M. S. Slocum. Folio. Unpaginated.

    Publisher's green half leather with decorative paper boards. Spine perished with front board detaching. Offsetting to endpapers. Numerous items of provenance laid in, including: a Typed Letter Signed from Rockwell to Slocum thanking him for this particular volume (a replacement after his first was destroyed when his studio burned), and two notes on Slocum stationery stating that only four copies were ever bound and who owns each (including notations that the burned copy was replaced with the copy original destined for The Congressional Library). Also laid in are numerous magazine clippings with Rockwell-related items, five photographs with Rockwell measuring approximately 8 by 10 inches each, and four bookplates signed by Rockwell.
