[Modern Art periodicals]. Forty Issues of Derrière Le Miroir. Paris: Editions Maeght, 1950-1982. Forty folio issues. Wonderfully illustrated with original lithographic wrappers and several original lithographs and reproductions. Original wrappers with loose folded pages within, with a few exceptions of specially-bound issues by the publisher. Most issues have light wear to the covers. Some rubbing with modest wear to the edges and extremities. Intermittent offsetting to some images. A few instances of small tears and abrasions to the spine. Otherwise, a very good collection of this beautifully-designed magazine.

This collection of the Paris-based magazine spans thirty-two years and celebrates the work of such artists as Alexander Calder, Marc Chagall, Alberto Giacometti, Wassily Kandinsky, Joan Miró, Antoni Tàpies, and various others. Partial to celebrating the work of those artists of the twentieth century who worked in bold designs of color, Derrière Le Miroir was published by Maeght, the well-respected house of livres d'artistes. As many of their issues included original lithographs by the featured artist, their standardized design of being a series of unbound folded pages within lithographed covers makes their illustrations all the more desirable.
