First edition. Two octavo volumes in twelves (7.75" x 4.75"). Beautifully illustrated with ten stunning wood- or steel-engraved plates. Account of a wealthy British woman who visited Texas with her husband in 1842 on their private yacht. Publishers original blue cloth, blocked in blind and lettered in gilt on the spines. Bindings a bit worn, corners bumped, spines faded to brown, front hinge of volume I cracked, one signature in volume II sprung, previous owner's bookplates. Some light foxing, else a very good copy. Housed in a quarter morocco book-backed slipcase, lettered in gilt on the spine. From the collection of Darrel Brown.
