    More Information:

A primary source of information on the life of Marie Antoinette, Madame Campan's memoirs were first published in France and England in 1823. Campan, "a gifted and exceptionally well-educated woman, was reader to Louis XV's daughters, then a devoted lady-in-waiting to Marie Antoinette," whom she served until shortly before the queen's execution (Reid, 85). This edition features a preface by Rene Vallery-Radot. Text in French. See Lowndes, 360.
