    [Maria Theresa of Austria]. Madame de Maisonneuve. Journal des Dames. The Hague and Paris: J. B. P. Valleyre, 1764. First edition. Twelvemo. 96 pages. Contemporary full green crushed morocco with the arms of Maria Theresa and Joseph II of Austria, with gilt triple-fillet borders and gilt imperial crowned double-headed eagles at the corners, spine elaborately tooled and titled in gilt. Gilt inner dentelles. Marbled endpapers. All edges gilt. Housed in a green custom clamshell box. Minor shelf wear to the binding. One bookplate to front pastedown, two to the verso of the front free endpaper. Ink shelf mark to front blank. A few leaves roughly opened. Overall, a near fine copy of a uniquely bound book with a stellar provenance. Previously sold at Sotheby's, New Bond Street, London in 1983. From a private collection from New Orleans.
