One of twenty portfolios (out of a total edition of fifty - this set numbered 12) with eighteen final proofs on Torinoko handmade paper and eighteen first proofs on Mohawk Superfine paper. Each print is numbered and signed by the artist. Each print is loose in a plain paper portfolio; the set is accompanied with a folded folio sheet of text (text leaf and portfolio sheets are 22 x 16.75 inches; 558 x 425 mm.), first proof sheets on Mohawk Superfine (18.25 x 14 inches; 463 x 355 mm.), final proof sheets on Torinoko (21.75 x 16.5 inches; 552 x 419 mm.). Complete. Housed in publisher's full tan cloth clamshell case, front cover lettered in blind. Fine. Based on the woodblock illustrations done by Eichenberg for the Limited Editions Club book, Simplicissimus, also published in 1981.
