    Description

A Rare Seventeenth-Century Book on Criminal and Canonical Law

[Law]. Io. Maria Novario [Giovanni Maria Novario]. Novissimae Decisiones Civiles, Criminales, & Canonicae... [Geneva]: Petri Chouet, 1637. First edition. Folio. Approximately 11.75 x 7.5 inches. [xx], 301, [48] pages. Near contemporary half vellum over marbled boards, ink titles at spine. Some wear and soiling to binding, some worm damage to boards, text browned and foxed, some ink notations and soiling throughout (the place of publication on the title-page has been crossed out in ink). Occasional worm damage in text. Bookplate. Still, a good copy of this very rare treatise on criminal and canonical law, apparently not seen at auction before (Worldcat reports only six institutional copies worldwide). From the collection of John Carrol Collins.

This was my first time dealing with an auction house, and I am 100% completely impressed with Heritage. There is not an aspect of this process that I have a critique for.
