[?] [--] Baronnet / Jules Chéret." Volume II is limited to 1,000 copies on on papier vélin, of which this is number 261, out of a total edition of 1,025. Volume III is limited to 1,000 copies on on papier vélin, of which this is number 908, out of a total edition of 1,050. Together, three folio volumes (12.5 x 8.75 inches; 316 x 220 mm.). [xii], [1, blank], [1]-160; [6], ii, 1-[253], [1, blank], [1, ads], [1, blank] pages; [4], iii, [1, blank], 1-[207], [1, blank] pages. With thirty chromolithographic and black and white plates in volume I, seventy-two chromolithographic and black and white plates in volume II, and sixty eight chromolithographic and black and white plates in volume III. Complete. Twentieth-century half red morocco over red marbled boards, spines lettered in gilt, marbled endleaves. With original wrappers bound into each volume. Spines a bit toned with some minor wear, light wear to corners, plate opposite page 149 in volume a bit loose and worn at outer margin. Near fine. From the collection of French book collector E. Bruell with his bookplate in each volume. The first comprehensive history on French poster art, and an important work on French poster art of the fin de siècle. Contained herein are chromolithographs from Chaix, Chéret, Toulouse-Lautrec, Mucha, Beardsley, Heine, Orlik, Rhead, and Hayashi. Carteret IV, 260.
