Compiled from the Papers of the Lae Honourable Captain George Berkley. London: T. Osborne and J. Shipton, 1756. First edition. Folio. Approximately 16.25 x 10 inches. [2, blank], [ix], 706, [2, index]. With inserted frontispiece, eleven maps or plates, and two fold-out maps inserted throughout. Complete. Title-page printed in black and red. Woodcut initials and vignettes. Bound to style by Hales in modern full blue levant morocco, spine ruled and lettered in gilt, six raised bands, gilt turn-ins, marbled endleaves. Initial blank leaves chipped, a few contemporary ink notes on frontispiece and title-page, some toning, thumbsoiling in text, folding maps with a few short tears. Still, a fine copy of this highly detailed account of Britain's naval history with excellent illustrations.
