"Manget was born at Geneva, 19 June 1652 (d1742).... he taught himself medicine by private study and reading, graduated as doctor in 1678 at Valence, in Dauphine, and practiced in his native place with great acceptance and success. He became dean of the Medical Faculty there, in 1699 the Elector of Brandenburg made him his first physician, and when he became King of Prussia, Manget still continued to hold the position until his death. His literary work... consisted chiefly in collecting and reprinting in large volumes treatises on medicine and surgery, and these are valuable as works of reference to books which either are now difficult to obtain or which have disappeared... In these volumes Manget has classified authors partly according to subject, part chronographically, the first book contains authors who have written the history of alchemy; those who have written against or for it; those who have given examples of transmutation; those who have written on the difficulties of alchemy and its language. Then follow the treatises from Hermes to Raymund Lully, with the Liber Mutus, which completes the first volume. The second volume contains authors from Lully down to Manget's own time, the beginning of the eighteenth century." [Ferguson].

These volumes contain 143 alchemical-hermetic texts [list on request, or go to http://www.levity.com/alchemy/manget.html]. Provenance: Ladislao Reti (1901-1973) chemist, scholar of the history of technolog, one of the world's foremost authorities on Leonardo Da Vinci. and famous collector of scientific books.

This was my first time dealing with an auction house, and I am 100% completely impressed with Heritage. There is not an aspect of this process that I have a critique for.
