Volume I only. First edition in French. Quarto. [30], [6], 698, [8, "Relation d'un Lache Attentat"], [2, Privilege leaf] pages. With five (of seven called-for) woodcut plates (three folding). Contemporary calf with gilt spine titles. Edges sprinkled red. Noticeable wear to the binding, with some chipping to the leather at the spine ends and on the rear board. Corners rubbed and exposed. Joints partially split. No front free endpaper. Scattered foxing. Folding plate at page 506 detached from the stub but laid in. Good. The titles translates to The Six Travels of John Baptista Tavernier, Baron of Aubonne, through Turkey and Persia to the Indies. From the collection of a gentleman of New York.
