Octavo (9.125 x 6 inches; 231 x 151 mm.). [8], 449, [7] pages. Publisher's dark blue paper-covered boards, spine lettered in gilt; all edges trimmed; in the original dust jacket. Bottom of the spine just barely pushed. Dust jacket crown with two short closed tears, the paper between them creased with some light color loss associated; small, short scrape to the bottom portion of the spine panel; foot of the spine panel crimped; tiny nick t the upper edge of the front panel fold, other general light edgewear. Near fine. The first Coroman Strike novel, published pseudonymously. According to Rowling bibliographer Philip Errington, a bookstore requested a signing with the publisher, before Rowling's identity was revealed. The publisher explained the author could not attend due to being in America, and shipped 250 signed copies. Errington A17(a).
