An Early Appearance of Washington's Farewell Address

[Isaiah Thomas]. Thomas's Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode-island, Newhampshire & Vermont Almanack, With an Ephemeris, for the Year of Our Lord 1797. Worcester, Massachusetts: Isaiah Thomas, [1796].

First edition. Twelvemo. 48 pages. Measures approximately 7 x 4.25 inches (slightly trimmed).

Stitched, with self wrappers, though it appears to have once been bound into boards or wrappers, with glue residue and paper remnants on the spine. Two small pencil notations to title page. Occasional spotting. Light, even toning to text. Minimal chipping to a few leaves, including the fore-edge of the title leaf. Spine edge of title page somewhat tattered, with three small holes from previous sewing. A mostly clean copy in very good condition.

Washington's farewell presidential address of September 17, 1796, is printed on ten pages. As Washington was approaching the end of his second term as President, he delivered this address in Philadelphia to his "Friends and Fellow Citizens," in which he set the precedent, now part of the Constitution, not to seek a third term.

This was my first time dealing with an auction house, and I am 100% completely impressed with Heritage. There is not an aspect of this process that I have a critique for.
