[Illuminated Manuscript]. Illuminated initial of St. Andrew. [Rhineland: circa 1400-1480]. Historiated initial on calfskin parchment, removed from a large choirbook, illuminated. Approximately 6.75 x 7.125 inches; 170 x 180 mm. Recto features an aged St. Andrew in red and green robes leaning on a saltire, backgrounded by a landscape of forests and rolling hills, inside a large initial U done in blue with fine white line work. Bordered in red and green with large areas of burnished gilding. Verso is a fragment of a neumatic plainchant notated on a standard four-line staff, c clef; ruled in red with Gothic text and musical notation in black; one large blue initial. Some mild rubbing, most noticeable at St. Andrew's robes. Remains of adhesive at edges of verso, where initial appears to have been mounted. About near fine.

The pre and post sales experience was wonderful and flawless. Heritage has the best in-house operation I have ever seen and their people are not only professional but fun to work with, especially Steve C.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
