    More Information: These two reports give an extensive look at Alaska and include information on the fur trade, seal fisheries, the native Alaskans and their culture, wildlife, and the topography of the vast territory. At the time of publication Hamlin was serving as Senator from Maine and though the U.S. acquired the Alaska Territory from Russia nearly a decade earlier, the vast resources of the territory were only beginning to be explored.
